The Walking Dead is back and better than ever in the second season of the highly anticipated Daryl Dixon-The Book of Carol. The first episode premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival this past weekend, and press and fans were on hand to see Daryl and Carol back in action! The Walking Dead family was blessed to relive some emotional scenes of Carol’s trauma and watch her growth as season 2 unfolded.

Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, David Zabel, and Scott Gimple were all present to discuss the first episode following the screening. Norman Reedus had previously revealed that fans will get their much-needed fill of Carol this season after Melissa McBride was unable to be a lead in season one. Even though we were fortunate enough to see the Queen in both episode 5 and 6 of the first installment.

The eagerly awaited drama starts off with Carol in Maine looking for her best friend. Rachel Leishman from The Mary Sue who exclaimed it was an incredible first episode of season 2. This season is really going to dive into the history of The Walking Dead and bring old fans and new fans alike.

Carol and Daryl are, of course, two of the originals from season one of the flagship, so there is always going to be the deep connection from the main series and on off into their future. Die hard fans are going to love what is in store for this French adventure. The dynamic duo are trying to get back to one another by doing whatever it takes.

The new season will pick up right where they left off, following fan-favorite Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier(Melissa McBride). They both confront old demons while she fights to find her friend and he struggles with his decision to stay in France, causing tension at the Nest. Additionally, Genet’s(Anne Charrier) movement build momentum, setting Pouvoir on a violent collision course with the Union of Hope in the fight for France’s future.

The panel after the premiere at Tribeca gave us lots to look forward to. Without spoiling much there is a scene recreated with Carol in a flashback that loyal fans are going to love. It will bring you right back to the early days of The Walking Dead.

“When Melissa showed up it felt like the gang was back together.”-Norman Reedus

Norman Reedus did tease that his favorite scene of season two was fighting like an old married couple, with Carol. When the two of them get together, they share comedic banter like no other. Not only is this show going to have an old school vibe it’s going to be very humorous that uniqueness sets it apart from other shows like The Ones Who Live.

David Zabel worked meticulously with Melissa McBride allowing her to have say in how she feels her character should be written. Not only is she going to find Daryl, the person she loves most but she also has a narrative of her own, just as Daryl does. Carol will also be battling past demons that were never touched on in the main show. Zabel has already proven he’s not letting characters fall into repeated patterns. Look for much growth from her and Daryl this season.

Lastly, Norman Reedus revealed that the Nest isn’t as pure as you might think. There are some sheep in wolves clothing to watch out for. Perhaps some rebels within the walls. Then the threat that is Genet. Daryl’s relationships with Laurent also becomes very complicated.

The radio call between Carol and Daryl from episode 5 of last season will be brought up again. Who has returned home? Was it Rick like we all assumed or will there be a twist? Carol is going to have much to attend with when she arrives in France. But if we know Carol we know one thing, there isn’t anything she can’t or won’t do for the ones she loves.

For the majority of fans they will have to wait 4 months for the show to have its official premiere on AMC and AMC Plus on September 29, at 9:00 p.m. EST. It will once again be a 6 episode season. The debut episode has a run time of 51 minutes. Expect Reedus and McBride to be highlighted at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con this Summer, where hopefully we will see the rest of the cast and get a more profound look into what’s to come for Daryl Dixon-The Book of Carol season 2.
